John Stewart

Psychotherapist
Professional Experience

With over 23 years of experience and more than 20,000 hours of individual therapy delivered, John Stewart brings deep clinical insight and human connection to his psychotherapeutic work. He specialises in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, addiction, and personality disorders, and has also worked extensively with couples in distress. His experience spans hundreds of group therapy sessions and psychodrama encounters, predominantly in addiction rehabilitation settings.

John’s approach is grounded, relational, and free from rigid allegiance to any single school of thought. He believes therapy should be an equal and professionally-boundaried conversation between two human beings – an exchange built on trust, authenticity, and shared understanding.

In addition to his clinical work, John consults for writers and novelists, including co-authoring FEAR with Sir Ranulph Fiennes. His writing has appeared in publications ranging from the Jungian Journal Harvest to national newspapers and wellbeing magazines. He has also provided commentary on mental health and wellbeing for television and has served as a medico-legal expert witness, writing hundreds of reports and supporting families through complex legal proceedings.

John continues to invest in his own supervision, personal therapy, and ongoing study, remaining deeply committed to his work. For him, psychotherapy is not only a vocation but a lifelong passion.
