John Felgate

John Felgate is Harbor’s Head of Logistics. He spent more than 30 years in international finance before moving into addiction work, bringing his own experience of recovery to the role.

John entered recovery in December 1998 while working in the City, and he stayed in finance until 2015. That year he retrained as an interventionist, and he has worked with people affected by addiction ever since.

Professional Background & Qualifications

Before moving into addiction and recovery work, John spent more than 30 years working within international financial institutions.

From 2016, he worked as an interventionist, recovery coach and sober companion, which included escorting clients into treatment

He worked with Harbor on a freelance basis for several years before joining full-time as Head of Logistics in 2021.

Healthcare Leadership & Experience

At Harbor, John manages individual client cases. He organises the multidisciplinary team meetings and helps coordinate the arrangements that clients and their families need.

His earlier work means he knows the practical side of getting someone into treatment, from the first conversation to the day they arrive.

Having worked in the City himself, he understands the pressures that accompany high-net-worth and demanding professional lifestyles, including those experienced by CEOs, business owners and entrepreneurs.

Approach to Care

John believes strongly in an individualised, one-to-one approach to recovery. Because he has been through recovery himself, he understands what clients and families face, both in the run-up to treatment and once it has begun.
