Dr Manan is a Consultant Psychiatrist and an Orator. He has been an active advocate of Mental Health Awareness over the globe. He is a 4 time TEDx talk speaker and was one of the youngest doctors globally to be a TEDx Speaker.
Dr Manan Thakrar is a Psychiatrist with experience working with people across different age groups and a wide range of mental health conditions.
He takes a person-centred, biopsychosocial approach to mental healthcare, considering the biological, psychological and social factors that influence each individual’s wellbeing. He works collaboratively with patients to identify the most appropriate treatment and is a strong advocate for patients’ rights.
Professional Background & Qualifications
Dr Thakrar completed his MBBS at M P Shah Medical College and his MD in Psychiatry at AMC MET Medical College, where he achieved first rank in his university.
He subsequently became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds the MRCPsych qualification.
Healthcare Leadership & Experience
Dr Thakrar has spoken at national and international conferences, including the World Federation for Mental Health, the SAARC Nations Psychiatry Conference and the Annual National Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society.
Alongside his clinical work, he is a weekly columnist and regularly contributes articles on mental health to two newspapers.

Dr Thakrar believes in a person-centred, biopsychosocial approach to mental healthcare, recognising that each person’s circumstances, experiences and needs are different.
He works closely with patients to develop individualised treatment plans, ensuring they are actively involved in decisions about their care.
