Professional Experience
Josie is a discreet, empathetic and compassionate professional who brings a combination of academic and clinical experience of working with clients across the lifespan. Josie adopts an integrated approach, meeting clients where they are with holistic, trauma-informed and evidence-based practice.
Josie is academically trained and has worked across different clinical settings in London whilst training with Place 2 Be and London South Bank University. Upon graduation and becoming a registered member of the BACP in the UK in 2021, Josie relocated to California, USA to study at Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School where she completed a Masters in counselling whilst simultaneously working for family services, supporting children and families impacted by addiction, helping the whole family to find healing.
In addition to her academic training, Josie brings a wealth of lived experience of healing to her practice. Her deep understanding, shaped by the insights and teachings of leading clinicians, guides her instinctual and intuitive abilities.
Josie aspires to help clients recognise their true worth, visualize their potential and expand their capacity for growth. Having lived internationally, Josie is well able to adapt to her clients’ outlook and to be considerate of cultural contexts, bias and influences.
Josie specialises in supporting high-achieving families, emerging adults in recovery, ACOA healing, family of origin work, knows the effects of both trauma and shame on both individuals and their family systems and treats addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Additionally, Josie has worked extensively with children and families.
Further, Josie has enjoyed successfully coaching business founders in how to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and systems.
In her spare time Josie loves to run along the beach, read or get coffee with her husband and two beloved Bedlington Terriers; Bilbo and Winnie.
