Professional Experience
Alessandro Borca is a dual-registered Mental Health and Adult Nurse, Non-Medical Prescriber, and experienced clinical leader with over 15 years of practice across inpatient, community, and research settings.
He began his career in a psychiatric therapeutic community in Italy, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs, dual diagnoses, and co-occurring physical health conditions. Since relocating to the UK, Alessandro has held key roles within NHS mental health services – including Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust – where he contributed to clinical research, care delivery, and patient-centred innovation.
His clinical practice centres on the care of individuals with severe and enduring mental illness, with a particular focus on personalised recovery planning, medication optimisation, and collaborative multidisciplinary care. As a Non-Medical Prescriber, Alessandro plays an active role in treatment planning and clinical decision-making.
In addition to his frontline roles, he has held a secondment as a Research Matron, led internship programmes, and contributes to national research governance as a member of the Health Research Authority (HRA) Research Ethics Committee. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing standards of care through research, education, and compassionate leadership.
